Photography & Bird Watching Desert/Alta

Amazing migrating birds and mustangs at spectacular locations

3 hr
350 US dollars
California, Nevada

Service Description

The diversity of habitats found here help make many locations nearby, "Nevada Important Bird Areas". Shallow lakes and extensive marshes are nestled in a broad valley of sagebrush and bitterbrush at the slopes of the lower, unforested Virginia Range, and the scene changes at altitude. Notable low-land species include Golden Eagle and Red-tailed Hawk year-round and Bald Eagle and Rough-legged Hawk in winter. Tundra Swan may be seen in winter and American White Pelican in spring and fall. Sooty Grouse, White-headed Woodpecker, and Calliope Hummingbird are specialties of the mountains and foothills. The valley offers habitat for shorebirds, waterfowl, and rails (source: Nevada Audubon).
